Thomas Endlein

Artist Biography

Thomas Endlein

Thomas Endlein was born in Rothenberg, Germany.  He was a research assistant for the Department of Zoology at the University of Cambridge, after finishing his PhD here in 2008 on “Locomotion and Adhesion: control mechanisms of attachment in ants”.

Thomas has won many awards over the years since graduating from the University of Wuerzburg. These include: 

Runner up in the Scientific Photo Award, ‘Visuell’ in 2003

Category winner and highly commended in the annual European and BBC Wildlife Photographer of the Year Competition (1999–2005)

Irene Manton award for the best scientific poster at the Meeting of the Society for Experimental Biology (2008)

Thomas has also been selected for the National Science Poster Award ‘Set for Britain 2009’.
