Artist Biography

Richard Briggs

Richard began working as a freelance illustrator in Plymouth after qualifying with a B.A in Design and Illustration.
Richard exhibited his watercolour illustrations in a number of galleries in and around Plymouth where he was given a one-man exhibition of his work at the Barbican Gallery in the historic Old Quarter of the city.

He has undertaken many private commissions, including a watercolour of the Oval cricket ground for the former Prime Minister John Major.

Richard is now working solely on his illustration and gallery work. He has always been most enthusiastic about his reportorial illustrations, depicting scenes from both this country and his travels abroad. He is now producing original watercolour illustrations, which can be found in a number of galleries across the South of England.
