Artist Biography

Hilary Hamilton

Born in Newcastle-upon-Tyne, Hilary later lived in London, Glasgow and Warwickshire where she became involved in landscaping of schemes as varied as power stations and private gardens. She came to work in Cambridge in 1973 with the Conservation Section of the City Council Planning Department protecting the historic landscapes and buildings of the University city.

In the mid-seventies, she combined her artistic and professional talents when she started to draw the buildings of Cambridge, recording in detail not only the colleges but also the architecture of shop-fronts. She has also added many other towns and cities to her portfolio.

Many of Hilary's paintings are to be found in collections around the world and her architectural drawings of Cambridge are reproduced as limited editions.

She has now retired and lives in Scotland.
